GIVING TUESDAY.jpg

Tuesday, December 3rd

The holiday season is upon us and it’s tempting to become focused on the ‘buying’ of gifts. This holiday season, we are asking you to celebrate the ‘GIVING’ season by being a part of Giving Tuesday. Your contribution to whatever charity you choose will help support their cause – all with a common goal of helping those in need.  The brAvery Foundation® would like to be considered as one of your charities.

No matter the amount of your donation to The brAvery Foundation®, it will make an impact. Your donation will help us get much needed ‘boots on the ground’ in the mental health profession – specifically, by helping to fund educational expenses for pediatric psychiatry and social work students.  It will also help The brAvery Foundation’s® advocacy efforts by providing life-saving information about suicide prevention and youth mental health to schools, caregivers, and communities.

You’ve heard all the statistics before. But, when it comes to saving a young life, these sobering numbers bear repeating. Suicide is the SECOND leading cause of death for young people ages 10-24. Only second to accidents (vehicle/overdose) – which many of those are possible suicides. And, suicides outnumber the top six childhood diseases COMBINED.  The brAvery Foundation® is working to stop youth suicide.  And, we need your support.

Please help us raise $5000 on Giving Tuesday, this December 3rd. If just 250 people donated $20 (a fast food meal out for two) or 100 people donate $50 (a nice dinner for two) we can easily reach our goal.

Suicide is preventable.  This Giving Tuesday, we are asking you to join our mission to help save a life.

Thank you for your generosity and best holiday wishes.

Giving Tues 2018.png

Please attend to listen to these 3 professional speakers talk about mental illness, suicide prevention, the opioid crisis, and their own stories. Stop by the manned resource tables - even if just to pick up information.

We encourage everyone (not just parents) to attend ... this IS a COMMUNITY event! Your attendance will help demonstrate the strong commitment of our various leaders and agencies in our community to these important subjects. While no county, school district or municipality is completely immune to the tragedy of suicide, we believe through "A Night of Hope" the dialogue will generate meaningful thoughts and solutions in the fight to protect our children, veterans, a neighbor, an employee ... no human is immune to mental illness, suicide, or addictions (many times used to self-medicate an underlying issue of mental illness).

Visit our Facebook page by clicking the FB icon below for more ongoing information on this event.

What does it mean to be struggling with suicide? What does it mean to be in so much pain you don’t see a way out? What does it mean when someone sees you are in desperate need of help and instead of giving you advice, they listen to you and love you…

What does it mean to be struggling with suicide? What does it mean to be in so much pain you don’t see a way out? What does it mean when someone sees you are in desperate need of help and instead of giving you advice, they listen to you and love you? What does it mean when we are allowed to feel the way we feel and not have someone tell us we should not feel this way? What does it mean when you get a second chance and catch a second wind? More and more it is clear that suicide prevention is about MEANING and PURPOSE in our lives. Come and listen to a suicide attempt survivor and psychologist discuss his own suicide experience. Learn about how, for a time, he lived from second to second. Discover with him his own surprise at finding a second chance and a second wind. Take away some basic lifesaving skills while understanding we all have a role to play in preventing suicide. - Dr. Bart Andrews
